Temptation, cast in my path at every turn
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 4:20PM I had just finished reading Emily's post on budgeting for the future and was having a muse on what my budgeting priorities are. Specifically, I was wondering whether the two new tops I had bought in my lunch hour counted as priority budgeting. Having almost formulated a case for them in my head ("They are smart, they are for work" etc.) I decided that I didn't need to return them but that I did need to start to give more consideration to what those tops meant to my budget and savings.
Feeling frugal and virtuous I clicked on the next item in my Google Reader, a post from Grace at Design Sponge.
Oh no.
Oh no no no. Why, when in my head I am planning to be so good must temptation be so swiftly visited upon me?
Lo, cast your eyes on this.
This little beauty is the new HP Mini designed by Toord Boontje. Yes, this would be the same model of HP mini I have previously scoffed at when it was introduced looking like a handbag but now, now it is a thing of beauty and I want it. Fickle, fickle creature that I am.
I love Toord Boontje's work. Our wedding list consisted exclusively of Toord Boontje dinnerware which I absolutely adore and never tire of looking at even though it gets used on a daily basis.
I desperately covet just about everything he has ever produced (although I can resist the icarus lamp quite happily), the field of flowers rug makes me want to throw caution to the wind and say I don't care that it costs $4k (but I really, really do care, seriously? $4k for a rug?) and I don't care that I have no idea how to keep it clean (even hanging on the wall the dust collection potential would be off the scale) it is a thing of beauty and I want it.
But the HP mini... Oh my, this is going to take some willpower...
